SFChefs Restaurant Week

GGRA is proud to have produced SF Chefs in 2009 showcasing its restaurant members on the local, regional and national stage. In 2010, we created an additional opportunity to showcase restaurants as a benefit of membership.

We're excited to formally introduce SF Chefs Restaurant Week, August 9-15th.

Restaurant Week will run from Monday, August 9 through Sunday, August 15. We will be publishing all participating restaurants on check stuffers and print announcements by the end of this week. Please fill out the SF Chefs 2010 Restaurant Week Sign-Up Form to get your name in. Restaurants who sign up for Restaurant Week will receive a free invitation to the SF Chefs Sunday Night Industry Party. Participation requires filling out the registration form and the iPhone application at www.sfchefsapp.com. If you want to participate please email or fax the attached forms by end of day on Friday, to Laura@ggra.org fax: 415.781.3925. Consumers will be invited to celebrate the greater San Francisco Bay Area's best food and wine offerings by visiting participating restaurants. Restaurants and chefs will be featured on the SFChefs2010 website (180,000 unique visitors in partial year in 2009) with a Showcase Menu highlighting your specialties. Restaurants are asked to offer a 3 course dinner menu at $35, or $50. The two price points are meant to accommodate a wider selection of restaurants, and to allow neighborhood restaurants to add cocktail or wine pairings to reach the $50 menu. Restaurant Week is sponsored by the National Pork Board, so each restaurant is asked to feature pork in at least one dish on the 3 course menu.

Cost: for GGRA members: two $100 gift cards to be used to promote the week as contest prizes with our media partners.

Cost: for non-GGRA members: $300 plus two $100 gift cards.

Marketing Plan:

SF Chefs Restaurant Week and participating restaurants will be messaged, promoted, and prominently featured with a dedicated media plan, generating an estimated 40 Million impressions, and utilizing and engaging consumers through new media channels and partners. Channels and partners will include:

-MOBILE: Featuring technology and location-based ads to engage and drive restaurant traffic.

  • Custom SF Chefs 2010 iPhone Application: Featuring participating restaurant info, links, maps, reviews and reservations
  • Mobile Spinach: Geographically and category-targeted, opt-in mobile text and display ads
  • NearbyAd: Geographically-targeted mobile ads on other iPhone applications
-PRINT: Featuring Regional and Local media partners to maximize reach.

-ONLINE: Garnering millions of impressions from a web-savvy and highly-targeted audience.

SFChefs 2010 Grand Tasting Tent

SFChefs 2010 is a showcase of local restaurants. Union Square will be tented, and feature chefs, artisans, brewers, distillers and wineries sampling the consumer on their products.

Friday "Hog in the Fog" Opening Reception

Presented by the National Pork Board and Wente Vineyards. Restaurants will be provided a whole pig if requested in order to prepare 1000 tastes for the consumer. 6:00 to 10:00 pm. Music by The Front Porch featuring Karl Wente, Q Street, and the Back Burner Blues Band.

Saturday Grand Tasting Tent

Restaurants asked to provide 1000 tastes for the consumer. 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm.

Saturday "Fork It Over" Foodraiser 2010

Presented by the California Lamb Producers. Restaurants will be provided lamb if requested in order to provide 1000 tastes for the consumer. 6:30 to 10:00 pm. Music by the David Martin House Party with potential show by the Ladies of AsiaSF. Proceeds benefit the GGRA Scholarship Foundation.

Sunday Grand Tasting Tent

Restaurants asked to provide 1000 tastes for the consumer. 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm.

Priority for placement will be given to GGRA restaurant members. Please contact Sasha Bernstein at 781-5700 or sasha@afandco.com to discuss participation.

Limited parking below Union Square. Load in and load out at the elevator column on Union Square. Restaurants will be allowed maximum 3 people to work their booth. Front and back table will be clothed and skirted. Compostable plates and silverware will be provided.
